Andrew Garfield fans will need to wait a bit for the actor’s next dramatic onscreen roles, as “The Uprising” won’t reach theaters until September 11, and Amazon MGM pushed Luca Guadagnino‘s “Artificial” to early 2027. But “The Magic Faraway Tree” should tide fans of Garfield’s over until then, as the fantasy drama reaches theaters in late summer after it hit UK theaters earlier already this Spring.

Based on Enid Blyton’s beloved novel of the same name, the film co-stars Garfield and Claire Foy as parents of a modern family whose move to the English countryside leads them to discover a tree that serves as a portal to a fantastical otherworld.

Adapted from Enid Blyton’s beloved classic novel, the film centers on Polly (Foy), Tim (Garfield), and their three children – a modern family forced to relocate to the remote English countryside. As they adapt to their new lives, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric residents, including treasured characters Moonface (Anozie), Silky (Coughlan), Dame Washalot (Gunning), and Saucepan Man (Dustin Demri-Burns). At the top of the tree, they are transported to spectacular, fantastical lands, and through the joys and challenges of their adventures, the family learns to reconnect and value each other for the first time in years.
Along with Garfield and Foy, “The Magic Faraway Tree” stars Nonso Anozie, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning, Jennifer Saunders, and Rebecca Ferguson.
Ben Gregor directs an adapted screenplay by Simon Farnaby for “The Magic Faraway Tree.” Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown, Danny Perkins, and Jane Hooks produce the film. Executive producers include Tamara Birkemoe, Michael Cornelius, Jacqueline De Croÿ, Simon Williams, Joe Simpson, Merrick Stoller, Andy Wang, and Matthew Chausse.
