What’s next for “Splitsville” director and star Michael Angelo Covino? Deadline reports that he’ll team up with Netflix for “The Last Fix,” a comedy in early development at the streamer.
Covino will helm a script by Chuck MacLean for the picture, about a Boston political fixer who discovers he only has six months left to live. Covino also produces under his Watch This Ready banner, alongside Emily Korteweg and Kyle Marvin. “The Last Fix” continues a partnership between Covino, Marvin and Watch This Ready that began with “The Climb,” Covino’s splashy 2019 debut.
Netflix was high on the spec script for “The Last Fix” before Covino signed on, but his touch could prove magical for the project. “Splitsville” was one of 2025’s best-reviewed comedies and caused a sensation at its Cannes world premiere for Covino’s highly kinetic directing style. The Playlist’s review awarded the film a B+ rating out of the festival, and it made our Best Films Of 2025 list, so expect this title to become highly anticipated in these parts.
But will Covino star in “The Last Fix,” as he did in “The Climb” and “Splitsville”? That’s not confirmed right now, so stay tuned for casting news and how quickly Netflix wants this movie to reach audiences.
