Benicio Del Toro and “Reptile” director Grant Singer are teaming up again. And Cameron Diaz may also be involved, but that’s not set in stone yet.
Deadline reports that Del Toro and Singer will reunite on “Reenactment,” an original screenplay Singer also writes. Plot details remain under wraps for now. Black Label Media, who produced 2023’s “Reptile,” is in the mix again, too, with Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, and Thad Luckinbill producing, along with Patrick Wachsberger of 193, a Legendary company. Executive producers on the pic include Rachel Smith via Black Label, Ashley Stern via 193, and Rick Yorn and Scott Greenberg via LBI. Wachsberger also handles the film’s international sales; Netflix swooped in on “Reptile” after its buzzy TIFF 2023 world premiere, but that doesn’t mean the streamer will do the same for “Reenactment.”
“Reenactment” isn’t the only Singer project Black Label has lined up. The director will also helm “The White Van,” in development now. Other recent projects for the banner include Lynne Ramsay‘s latest, “Die, My Love,” which hits theaters next weekend on November 7. JD Dillard‘s “The Strange” is Black Label’s next film, with casting underway for it right now.
Del Toro has had a huge 2025 so far with “The Phoenician Scheme” and “One Battle After Another,” two films that will no doubt rank on several critics’ top 10 lists for the year. The actor also has Jamie Foxx‘s feature directorial debut “All-Star Weekend” on the way this year, but that one still lacks an official release date.
As for Diaz, she returned to acting after an eleven-year hiatus on Netflix’s “Back In Action,” co-starring with Foxx. Netflix reports that the action-comedy was the streamer’s most-watched film of 2025 thus far. The actress also has “Bad Day,” “Outcome,” and “Shrek 5” upcoming.
