It’s mid-March and almost Oscars Sunday, and that means blockbuster season is nearly upon us. But despite the summer movie season closing in, the safeguards around official plot details for “Disclosure Day,” Steven Spielberg‘s latest UFO blockbuster at Universal, remain staunchly in place. Ironic, considering the film’s tagline that “this summer, “the truth belongs to seven billion people”; then again, doesn’t this secretiveness guarantee a first-rate thrill ride for the movie’s audience?

Despite all that, early teasers for Spielberg’s film confirm this setup: how would the world as we know it respond after irrefutable proof of extra-terrestrial life was revealed to the public? The new trailer for “Disclosure Day” offers more glimpses of that fallout, and, from the looks of things, the director’s latest UFO story depicts “first contact” as a seismic rupture to the world as we know it in an altogether different way than “War Of The Worlds” and “Close Encounters Of The Third Kind,” albeit in Spielberg’s singular directorial style. Check out the latest trailer below.
“Disclosure Day” stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. Additional cast includes Wyatt Russell, Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Michael Gaston, Mckenna Bridger, and Elliott Villar.
David Koepp pens the screenplay for “Disclosure Day,” based on a story by Spielberg. Koepp and Spielberg have worked together four times in the past: on “Jurassic Park,” its sequel “The Lost World: Jurassic Park,” “War Of The Worlds,” and “Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.” Kristie Macosko Kreger produces the film with Spielberg via Amblin Entertainment. Executive producers include Adam Somner and Chris Brigham.
Other longtime Spielberg collaborators work on “Disclosure Day” as well: Janusz Kamiński is the film’s director of photography; Michael Kahn and Sarah Broshar serve as editors; and John Williams composes original music.
So, will Spielberg deliver a classic studio blockbuster with “Disclosure Day”? Find out when the film hits theaters on June 12.
