When will Prime Video‘s live-action adaptation of the popular PlayStation series “God Of War” premiere on the streamer? That remains up in the air, but with production underway, expect an official release date soon. But Amazon MGM has a taste of what’s to come for fans of the popular video game, with the first image of characters Kratos and Atreus available.

The new first-look image for the show sees Ryan Hurst‘s Kratos and Callum Vinson‘s Atreus on the hunt. It’s not much to go on, but enough for fans of the video game to get a sense of the show’s visual style, and how Hurst will look as Kratos.
Here’s a brief synopsis for the upcoming series, courtesy of Prime Video:
The God of War series storyline follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.
Along with Hurt and Vinson, “God Of War” also stars Mandy Patinkin, Ed Skrein, Max Parker, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Teresa Palmer, Alastair Duncan, Jeff Gulka, and Danny Woodburn.
Ronald D. Moore serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer on “God Of War.” Other executive producers include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis also serve as co-executive producers. Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the show’s first two episodes. “God Of War” is a Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios co-production, in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.
