After its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival two years ago, Pablo Larraín‘s “Ema” finally made had its theatrical release in US theaters last week. The reason for all of the excitement around “Spencer?” There are several reasons, actually. For one, Kristen Stewart stars as Diana, Princess of Wales, as exciting a casting choice as any in a film this year (no disrespect to Emma Corrin and Naomi Watt‘s portrayals, or Elizabeth Dibicki’s upcoming one on ‘The Crown‘). Another is the similar narrative format “Spencer” has to Larraín’s 2016 film, “Jackie,” which focuses on a pivotal event in the character’s actual history. A script by screenwriter Steven Knight doesn’t hurt things, either.
