Deadline reports that “The Banshees Of Inisherin” actress Kerry Condon will join Brad Pitt in the cast of Joseph Kosinski‘s still-untitled F1 racing movie over at Apple. Of course, it was inevitable for Condon to land a big-budget follow-up role to “Inisherin” after her performance in that film nabbed the actress an Oscar nomination. Now it’s clear what it is.

It’s a promising role for Condon to take on. No word on who Condon plays yet, but the film will follow Pitt’s retired Formula 1 driver as he comes out of retirement to mentor a young protegé and go for glory one last time. Damson Idris also stars in the film. Kosinski co-produces the film with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Pitt’s Plan B banner, and 7-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton‘s Dawn Apollo. Copper CEO Penni Thow serves as executive producer on the project.
Apple won the bid for Kosinki’s F1 feature last year with a package between $130-140 million. It’s Apple Studio’s second collab with Pitt’s Plan B, the other being Jon Watts‘ untitled film with Pitt and George Clooney. Clooney also partners on that movie through his Smokehouse Pictures. After Kosinski’s massive success with “Top Gun: Maverick” last year, it’s easy to see why Apple shelled out for this project.
“Inisherin” wasn’t Condon’s breakout role in Hollywood, as she’s had recurring roles on the likes of “Better Call Saul” and “Roy Donovan,” and had role in Martin McDonagh‘s previous film “Three Billboards Outside Of Ebbings, Missouri.” She also voiced F.R.I.D.A.Y. in a bunch of MCU movies. All the awards season hype last winter built up a lot of good fortune for Condon, though. Along with this feature, she also has Disney+‘s “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” with Jude Law lined up, as well as the Atomic Monster/Blumhouse thriller “Night Swim.” Also in the pipeline for Condon: “In The Land Of Saints And Sinners” with fellow Irish actors Liam Neeson and Ciarán Hinds.
But Kosinski’s F1 movie is far and away the blockbuster in Condon’s upcoming roles. Expect more casting news as this one inches closer to production.
