'Back In Action': Cameron Diaz Comes Out Of Retirement To Star In New Netflix Action-Comedy With Jamie Foxx

Cameron Diaz is officially back in action in “Back In Action.” After retiring from Hollywood in 2013, the actress returns to star in a new Netflix action-comedy with Jamie Foxx. The duo also worked together on 1999’s “Any Given Sunday” and the 2014 “Annie” remake.

It was Foxx, though, not Diaz, who broke the news about the actress’s big-screen comeback. In an announcement on Twitter, Foxx shared an audio clip of him and Diaz on the phone, with Diaz saying how anxious she is about her big return. So, Foxx asks Diaz if he could bring someone into the conversation to help her. “Can I click him in?” he asks Diaz, who agrees.

That someone turns out to be Tom Brady, who knows something about un-retiring successfully. Earlier this year, Brady retired from the NFL only to rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccanneers a mere forty days later. “I was talking to Jamie and he said you needed a few tips on how to un-retire,” Brady tells Diaz, adding, “I’m relatively successful at un-retiring.” Well, that remains to be seen Tom, since your production may drop off this coming NFL season, which wouldn’t indicate a successful comeback at all. But this is a cute publicity stunt for Foxx to pull off.

Plot details are under wraps right now for “Back In Action,” but “Horrible Bosses” director Seth Gordon shoots the film from a script he co-writes with “Neighbors” scribe Brendan O’Brien. According to Foxx, production on the film will start later this year.
