'Game Of Thrones' Creator George R.R. Martin Confirms Kit Harington's Jon Snow Sequel Series & Its Title: 'Snow'

Well, it’s official: there’s a new “Game Of Thrones” series in development over at HBO centered around Jon Snow, and Kit Harington has direct involvement in it. And while it remains to be seen if the show will get the green light for a pilot, a series order, and so forth, series creator George R.R. Martin has some more details about the project, including its title.

Deadline reports that Martin shared more info about the show on his blog yesterday. “Yes, there is a Jon Snow show in development,” he wrote, “Our working title for the show is “Snow.”” Not the most imaginative title by any means, but it makes sense since Jon Snow is the show’s focal point. But Martin had other details to share, like how Harington is the show’s primary catalyst. “Yes, it was Kit Harington (sic) who brought the idea to us,” Martin continued, “I cannot tell you the name of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet… but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.” So, in other words, “Snow” is a Kit Harington vehicle on every level.

Martin also added that “Snow” has been in the works for a while now. “”Snow” has been in development almost as long as the other three, but for whatever reason it was never announced and it never leaked… until now,” Martin continued. The other three shows Martin mentioned are all prequel spin-offs to the original “Thrones” series, like the upcoming “House Of The Dragon,” premiering this August. “10,000 Ships,” “Sea Snake,” and a series centered around the knights Dunk & Egg are the three spin-offs Martin references, but there are other “Thrones” projects in the idea stage, too, including a couple of animated shows.

In his blog post, Martin detailed his involvement in all four shows and stressed that these projects might never move beyond the script stage. “Please note: nothing has been green lit yet, and there is no guarantee when or if it will be… on any of these shows,” Martin said. “The likelihood of all four series getting on the air… well, I’d love it, but that’s not the way it works, usually.” So, while the prospect of Harington returning to the role is exciting, there are no guarantees more adventures of Jon Snow will ever reach audiences.

So, there you have it: a Jon Snow-based “Game Of Thrones” sequel is indeed in the works, its title is “Snow,” and George R.R. Martin is directly involved, with Kit Harington playing a significant role on the creative side of things. Again, it’s uncertain if “Snow” or any of these other prequels/spin-offs will ever make it past the script stage, so it’s not as if Harington’s return to the role is imminent. But perhaps the success of “House Of The Dragon” after its August premiere will play a role in this idea’s future. “Thrones” fans will have to wait and see what happens as this story develops.
