'The Bear': FX Slates Season 2 Premiere Of Its Hit Series For Early Summer, Will Have 10 Episodes

After its premiere on FX last June, “The Bear” quickly became one of 2022’s most critically acclaimed TV series. And now the buzzy show returns sooner than expected. Deadline reports FX has the series penciled in for an early summer release date this year, an exact date coming later. On top of that, “The Bear” Season 2 will be ten episodes long, up from Season 1’s eight.

In “The Bear,” Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a fine dining chef who returns home to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop after his brother’s suicide. As Carmy grapples with the rough transition, he also deals with unruly staff, strained family relationships, and the soul-crushing realities of running a small business. Alongside White, “The Bear” also stars Ebon Moss-BachrachAyo EdebiriLionel BoyceLiza Colón-Zayas, and Abby Elliott.

FX has a smash hit on its hands with “The Bear.” So what should fans of the show expect in Season 2? Series creator Christopher Storer isn’t giving too much away. “In terms of Season 2, you’re gonna see them build a restaurant,” Storer said. “They think they’re starting from a healthy place like a lot of other businesses, but it just creates the same amount of problems and the same amount of headaches every day. So we see them have to step up in different ways. In some ways, they’ll regress but hopefully, they’ll ultimately come back together to open this thing by a very specific date.”

Storer also serves as executive producer on the show with Joanna CaloHiro Murai, and Nate Matteson of Super Frog, and Josh Senior.  Tyson Bidner and chef Matty Matheson, who has a supporting role in the series, also serve as co-producers.

Of note: Jeremy Allen White won a Golden Globe for Best Actor In A TV Comedy Series for his role as Carmy on Tuesday Night. But any casting news for Season 2 yet? Not really, other than that Storer’s longtime girlfriend Gillian Jacobs may show up at some point.
