No word on who Gordon play on “The Bear” yet, but the role is a big grab for the up-and-coming actress. Gordon’s 2023 is already off to a strong start with her film “Theater Camp,” which she co-writes, co-directs, and stars in, had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The film won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Best Ensemble at the festival along with rave reviews from critics.  Searchlight releases “Theater Camp” in theaters on July 14. Other recent work for Gordon includes 2020’s “Shiva Baby,” Netflix‘s “You People” from earlier this year, and Olivia Wilde‘s feature debut “Book Smart.”

Gordon joins White, Edebiri, and Odenkirk in a kitchen drama that quickly won over critics and audiences last year. “The Bear” follows White’s Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, an elite chef based in NYC, who returns home to Chicago after his brother’s suicide to take over Mr. Beef, his family’s sandwich shop. But Carmy’s brother left the restaurant in a chaotic state, and Carmy finds it hard to adjust to the its soul-crushing realities. The show also stars Ebon Moss-BachrachAbby ElliottLionel BoyceMatty Matteson, and Liza Colón-Zayas. White won a Golden Globe, a SAG award, and a Critics’ Choice TV award for Best Actor in a Comedy series for the show’s first season.

In Season 2, “The Bear” upgrades from eight episodes to ten. And “The Bear” itself upgrades too, with Carmy & co. re-opening Mr. Beef as the show’s namesake as a high-concept restaurant. So how will that go? Equally as chaotic as least season, albeit in different ways.  Chrisopher Storer created “The Bear,” and serves as executive producer with Joanna CaloHiro Murai, and Nate Matteson of Super Frog and Josh Senior. Other producers include Tyson Bidner and Matty Matheson.  FX Productions produces the series.

There’s no official release date for “The Bear” Season 2 yet, but expect an announcement for that very soon as June approaches.
