Chris Pine has a diverse and buzzy array of projects on the near horizon: the Sundance 2026 favorite “Carousel,” the genre-bending sci-fi “Alpha Gang“ from the “Sasquatch Sunset” directors, and a rom-com with Emma Stone called “The Catch.” Now add one more to that list, as Deadline reports that Pine is set to star in “Yeti,” an upcoming horror film over at Netflix from “The Conjuring: Last Rites” filmmaker Michael Chaves.
As per Deadline, “”Yeti” takes place deep in the Alps, where an avalanche has unleashed something primeval from the glacial ice. With no hope of rescue, a father and his daughter must fight to survive against a merciless predator that blends in with the snow.” Pine will play the Dad from the logline, with “The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping” actress Iona Bell as his daughter. The supporting cast includes Ray Winstone and Sofia Boutella.
“Yeti” was originally a Sony Pictures project, but it slid over to Netflix last Spring. The creature feature will be Chaves’ first notable work outside of mega-successful “The Conjuring” franchise, the latest of which, “Last Rite,” nearly hit $500 million at the global box office. Peter Gaffney and Sean Tretta pen the script, with Erik Feig and Jessica Switch producing via Picturestar alongside Dan Kagan. Pine and Hans Ritter will executive produce.
Bell also had a film at Sundance 2026: “Fing!,” a fantasy film that also stars Mia Wasikowska and Taika Waititi. As for Winstone, the “Sexy Beast” and “The Departed” actor has been in two other recent Netflix projects, “Damsel” and Guy Ritchie‘s “The Gentlemen” series. Boutella also has a history with the streamer in Zack Snyder‘s two “Rebel Moon” movies. Other recent work for the actress includes “The Killer’s Game” and the MGM+ series “Rogue Heroes,” with “DreamQuil” ready for its world premiere at SXSW 2026.
Stay tuned for more details on “Yeti,” which should premiere on Netflix sometime in 2027.
