'Halo' Trailer: The Beloved Military Sci-Fi Game Adaptation Hits Paramount+ Early Next Year

Is there a more influential video game series than Microsoft‘s “Halo” series from the last twenty years? The first game’s debut in 2001 virtually assured XBox’s success as a console, and the series went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed franchises of all time. The latest in the series, “Halo Infinite,” debuts right now, but that’s not the only new “Halo”-related media soon on its way.

In early 2022, the “Halo” TV series finally debuts on Paramount+. First announced in 2013, the show has been a long time coming. And with Steven Spielberg on board as executive producer, expect this to be a big tentpole show for Paramount+ to vie with juggernauts like Netflix and HBO Max.

Those familiar with the gaming series know the “Halo” score by now. In the 26th century, an alien threat called the Covenant threatens humanity. Master Chief, one of the few remaining Spartan super soldiers in the United Nations Space Command ranks, battles the invasion with the help of an AI construct, Cortana.

The show stars Pablo Schrieber as Master Chief, with Natascha McElhone as Dr. Catherine Halsey, a UNSC scientist. Voice actress Jen Taylor reprises her role from the game series as Cortana. “Halo” also stars Yerin Ha, Charlotte Murphy, Shabana Azmi, Bokeem Woodbine, Olive Gray, Danny Sapani, and Kate Kennedy.

Paramount+ snagged the nine-episode series from Showtime earlier this year after Showtime president Gary Levine thought “Halo” as an outlier to the company’s usual brand. So, will Showtime’s trash end up Paramount+’s treasure? Only time will tell.

“Halo” premieres early next year, so stencil that into your calendars, gamers. Check out the new trailer below.
