Directed by the filmmaking team Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin and Juan Camilo Cruz, “Lost In The Jungle” tells the extraordinary story of the four Indigenous children who survived the Colombian plane crash on May 1, 2023, and then endured 40 days alone in the jungle. It’s a remarkable story, told in their own words and those of their rescuers.
Here’s an official synopsis for “Lost In The Jungle,” courtesy of National Geographic:
After a deadly plane crash strands four young siblings deep within the Colombian rainforest, a dramatic rescue mission unfolds, uniting Indigenous trackers and the military in a race against time. For the first time ever, LOST IN THE JUNGLE offers the exclusive account of this incredible true story directly from the children themselves and the rescuers who scoured the Amazon rainforest for a grueling 40 days and nights to find them. From National Geographic Documentary Films and Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, along with Emmy® Award-winning director Juan Camilo Cruz, LOST IN THE JUNGLE is a gripping tale of survival, courage and hope.
Along with directing, Vasarhelyi, Chin, and Cruz also produce “Lost In The Jungle” with Simon and Jonathan Chinn, Mark Grieco, Anna Barnes, and Guillermo Galdos. Executive producers on the film include Carolyn Bernstein, Tim Horsburgh, Josh Braun, Luis Del Valle, and Hollman Morris.
After its world premiere at Telluride this weekend, “Lost In The Jungle” premieres on the National Geographic on September 12 before it streams exclusively on Disney+ on September 13. Watch a trailer for the documentary below.
