Got a Tip?

‘Entergalactic’ Teaser: Kid Cudi’s Animated Film With Timothée Chalamet, Ty Dolla $ign & More Hits Netflix In September

Scott Kid CudiMescudi has had quite the year onscreen so far. His turn in Ti West‘s sleazoid-horror film “X” is one of that film’s many strengths and is bound to put him on other directors’ radars. But maybe Mescudi can handle himself just fine. He has a new project, the animated series “Entergalactic,” on the way last year, with an accompanying soundtrack he produced himself. That’s a shrewd move for this jack of all trades, especially now that Netflix has plans to release it.

At their Annecy International Film Festival showcase earlier this week, Netflix announced the upcoming show hits the streamer this September. And the news should come with little surprise as “#blackAF” creator Kenya Barris is co-executive producer of “Entergalactic.” The film’s original story follows two young artists in NYC as they navigate the twists of turns of romance and career success.

Here’s the official synopsis from Netflix:

Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi and Kenya Barris join forces to present Entergalactic, an original, animated story about a young artist named Jabari as he attempts to balance love and success. Finding the latter brings Jabari a step closer to the former, when moving into his dream apartment introduces him to his new neighbor, photographer it-girl, Meadow. An explosion of art, music, and fashion, Entergalactic takes place in the only city that can handle all three: New York.

Jessica Williams co-stars as Meadow alongside Mescudi’s Jabari. The film also stars Timothée Chalamet, Ty Dolla $ign, Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, and Christopher Abbott070 Shake, Jaden Smith, Keith David, Teyana Taylor, Arturo Castro, and Macaulay Culkin are also part of the eclectic line-up.

Mescudi released the first original song from the series, “Do What I Want” on streaming platforms last week. Expect more of that as the series approaches its fall release.

Will “Entergalactic” end up Netflix’s latest animation sensation? Find out when the series premieres on the streamer on September 30. Watch the trailer below.
