Jennifer Lawrence just wrapped production on one movie over at Apple Original Films, Martin Scorsese‘s “What Happens At Night.” Now THR reports that the actress has just signed on for another, a rom-com from writer-director Sophie Fleur de Bruijn titled “One Month Mark.”
And given the film’s set-up, it’s clear its title is a play on words. Here’s the logline to explain that: “She has never made it past a month in a relationship. He has never gone longer than a month without one.” But who will play Mark opposite Lawrence’s female lead? That’s unknown at the moment, but expect further casting news soon.
It’s also unclear whether de Bruijn will direct “One Month Mark” in addition to writing its spec script. Sources point to no on that front. That’s interesting, considering the rom-com is the multi-hyphenate’s second collaboration for Apple that she writes but doesn’t direct; “Early Action” is the other one, a comedy the studio bought last year that’s in active development. As for producers, Lawrence leads the charge there with Justine Ciarrocchi via Excellent Cadaver, as do David Ready and Peter Chernin of Chernin Entertainment; many will recognize that banner as one of the companies behind the recent horror hit “Backrooms.” De Bruijn serves as executive producer, as does Chernin Entertainment executive vice president Brady Fujikawa.
“One Month Mark” is project #4 for Lawrence after “What Happens At Night,” 2022 drama “Causeway,” and as a producer on the 2023 doc “Bread & Roses.” Other upcoming films for the actress include a cameo appearance as Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping,” in theaters on November 20.
