'Dickinson' Star Anna Baryshnikov Joins Kristen Stewart In A24 Bodybuilding Romantic Thriller 'Love Lies Bleeding'

Love Lies Bleeding,” a new romantic thriller from A24, already has a lot going for it. For one, it’s an A24 movie, and that brings a certain sheen to it. But it also has Kristen Stewart in the starring role, “Saint Maud” director Rose Glass behind the camera, and an intriguing premise: a romantic thriller set in the world of elite bodybuilding.

And now, Deadline reports that Stewart has her first co-star: Anna Baryshnikov, from the AppleTV+ show “Dickinson.” That series wrapped its third and final season last December, but Baryshnikov has had other roles, too. Her feature film debut was in Kenneth Lonergan‘s 2016 film “Manchester By The Sea,” and she starred alongside Maggie Gyllenhall in the Netflix movie “The Kindergarten Teacher.” Other credits include Todd Solondz‘s “Weiner-Dog.”

Thanks to two BAFTA nominations, Glass’s follow-up to “Saint Maud” is one of A24’s most anticipated upcoming films. That film deals with a hospice nurse who, after converting to Roman Catholicism, becomes increasingly obsessed with a woman under her care and the need to save her soul. If Glass brings the same energy to “Love Lies Bleeding,” expect it to be a riveting look into the competitive bodybuilding world.

Glass co-writes the script for “Bleeding” with “His Dark Materials” director Weronika TofilskaAndrea Cornell and Oliver Kassman, producers of “Saint Maud,” return to produce here, too. The film has yet to start shooting, but expect it to have a mid-late 2023 release.
