Who’s Alex Garland have in mind to star in his live-action “Elden Ring” adaptation over at A24? It may be a member of the troupe of young up-and-coming actors who starred in his recent film, “Warfare.”

Variety reports that Garland has his eyes on Kit Connor for a lead role in the upcoming movie, but hasn’t sent out a formal offer yet. That makes sense: the “Elden Ring” pic was only announced officially last week, and it’s still unclear what the timeline is for its production, release, etc. Here’s what we do know about the film so far. It’s an A24-Bandai Namco co-production, produced by Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich via DNA, and Vince Gerardis. Creator George R.R. Martin also produces; he wrote the story the 2022 video game is based on.
For those unfamiliar with “Elden Ring,” the highly successful action roleplaying game launched in February 2022 to much acclaim via Bandai Namco Entertainment. Players customize characters to explore a dark medieval fantasy world full of dungeons, dragons, and more. Since its first release, “Elden Ring” has sold over 30 million units worldwide, and has a spinoff “Elden Ring Nightreign” launching today. An all-in-one version of the game also hits the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
“Elden Ring” would be Connor’s biggest role yet if he signs on. The British actor’s breakout came on Netflix‘s “Heartstopper,” which ran three seasons and has a movie on the way. Other recent work besides “Warfare” includes “His Dark Materials” and voice work on last year’s “The Wild Robot.”
So does Alex Garland have his “Elden Ring” star in Kit Connor, and will he jump right into this project as soon as possible? Stay tuned on that. Garland has worked at the fastest pace of his career in recent years, and that may continue here, especially if “Nightrein” proves to be another video game smash hit.
