'The Kingdom Exodus' First Look Clip: Lars Von Trier's Cult Series Returns For Its Third & Final Installment

Almost 30 years after its first release, Lars Von Trier returns to his cult series “The Kingdom” for its third and final installment. And now audiences get their first look at “The Kingdom Exodus,” out from Von Trier and TrustNordick later this year.

The new clip doesn’t give away much, but it shows series protagonist Karen (Bodil Jørgensen) sleepwalking into the Kingdom’s main gate. For those unfamiliar with the series, The Kingdom is a haunted hospital in Copenhagen built over old bleaching ponds where evil has taken root. The show follows Karen and others affected by the hospital’s ghostly past as they seek answers to irresolvable questions.

Beyond Jørgensen, “Exodus” also stars Lars Mikkelsen, Mikael Persbrandt, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and Tuva NovotnyDavid Dencik and Alexander Skarsgård also guest star in the series.

 “Exodus” is Von Trier’s first project since 2018’s divisive serial killer pic “The House That Jack Built.” While “Exodus” consists of five one-hour episodes, Von Trier also plans to release the series in a feature film version. Release dates for both are still unknown.

So, the gate to the Kingdom is open again. What mysteries await in Von Trier’s final chapter of his 1990s cult show? Fans find out once “The Kingdom Exodus” gets its American release.  Watch the first look clip below.
