“65 million years ago, Big Game meant something very different.” So goes the byline for the latest TV spot for the sci-fi actioner “65,” tailor-made for the Super Bowl LVII broadcast. Sound ludicrous to anyone else? Well, don’t write off “65” just yet: it may just be this year’s best kinda-gonzo big-budget popcorn flick. Not only does it have Driver flexing his acting chops in an unfamiliar genre, but “A Quiet Place” writers Scott Beck & Bryan Woods pen the film’s script and share directing duties. A small cast, big monsters, and tense atmosphere worked for them before, right?

Here’s an official synopsis for “65,” courtesy of Sony Pictures Releasing:

After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth…65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa, must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive.

Besides Driver, “65” also stars Andrea GreenblattChloe Coleman, and Nika King.  Sam Raimi leads the film’s producers, including Beck & Woods, Deborah Liebling, and Zainab Azizi. Another juicy name: Danny Elfman scores the film.

So, will “65” go the way of “A Quiet Place” or something more like “After Earth“? Find out when the film hits theaters on March 10. Either way, this movie and “Ferrari” make an Adam Driver 2023 double feature especially interesting. Watch the exclusive Super Bowl TV spot for “65” below.
