“The Handmaid’s Tale” may have ended last year, but the Elisabeth Moss–Hulu relationship isn’t over yet. THR reports that the actress return to the streamer for her next TV show, a legal drama based on Jack Jordan‘s 2023 novel “Conviction.” Moss will executive produce the series along with starring in its lead role
Moss will play Neve Harper on “Conviction,” a defense attorney on the brink of winning a career-making case: a high-profile murder where the husband is accused of killing his wife and setting their home on fire. But when a stranger starts to blackmail Neve, the lawyer is forced to compromise every legal and ethical obligation she has to gain an acquittal, or her dark secrets will be exposed.
The show hails from 20th Television, where showrunner/executive producer David Shore and executive producer Warren Littlefield both have overall deals. And “Conviction” may not be the last Jordan adaptation in the works. 20th TV also has a development with the author for his upcoming books and original scripts, with his 2024 novel “Redemption” already in development (the same goes for Jordan’s next one, “Deception“). Other producers involved in “Conviction” include Disney Entertainment‘s International Originals EMEA team, The Littlefield Co., Co-Lab 21, and Riff Raff Entertainment.
Most of Moss’ recent performances have been on TV: “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Apple TV+‘s “Shining Girls,” and “The Veil,” an FX limited series that also streamed on Hulu. Next is “Imperfect Women,” another Apple TV+ show premiering on March 18. Moss also executive produces “The Testaments,” the sequel series to “The Handmaid’s Tale” that’s on the way from Hulu.
