New ‘Alien: Earth’ Trailer: Noah Hawley’s Sci-Fi Horror Series Premieres On FX & Hulu On August 12

Noah Hawley’s TV resume with FX speaks for itself: “Fargo,” one of the most acclaimed crime series of the past decade, and “Legion,” which didn’t last as long but had a devoted cult following with Marvel fans. But Hawley’s new series for the network, premiering next month, could eclipse all of his previous critical accolades….Don’t believe that? Well, check out the latest trailer for “Alien: Earth” below, which, frankly, looks like the strongest take on the legendary sci-fi series in a long, long time.

Sydney Chandler stars in the show as a synthetic prototype part of a tactical team tasked with boarding a deep space research vessel that crash-lands on Earth. Want to guess what’s inside?

Here’s an official synopsis of “Alien: Earth,” courtesy of FX:

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

Along with Chandler, “Alien: Earth” also stars Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, and David Rysdahl. Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, and Adarsh Gourav also star. Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver round out the main cast.

Along with serving as creator and showrunner on “Alien: Earth,” Hawley also executive produces the series with Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzalez, and Clayton Krueger. FX Productions produces the show.

So, will Hawley’s latest show be another smash hit for FX? Don’t be surprised if it’s not only a shot, but the real shot of creative life the “Alien” franchise needs (no disrespect to Fede Álvarez’s serviceable retread “Alien: Romulus” from last summer). “Alien: Earth” premieres on FX and Hulu on August 12.
