'Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania': William Jackson Harper Joins Cast Of Upcoming MCU Movie

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania” ushers in Phase 5 of the MCU next February, and the new trailer for the film that dropped this week has Marvel fans hyped. And from the looks of things, expect even more multiversal weirdness than certain Phase 4 content, as well as the return of Jonathan Major‘s Kang The Conquerer. But as the film approaches its release, there’s some new casting news involving a role being kept carefully under wraps.

Variety reports that William Jackson Harper appears in “Quantumania,” but his role remains a closely guarded secret; so secret that Marvel Studios declined to comment on his casting. Harper joins Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Douglas in the sequel to 2015’s “Ant-Man” and its 2018 sequel, “Ant-Man And The Wasp.” Other cast members include Kathryn Newton, Majors, Gregg Turkington, and Bill Murray. Also of note: MODOK, an infamous cybernetic character from the Marvel comics, makes an appearance in the film.

Maybe Harper plays MODOK? There’s no reason to think so, but MODOK doesn’t show up in the film’s new trailer, so maybe that’s who Harper plays. “Quantumania” sees Scott Lang go on a new adventure into the Quantum Realm when Hope van Dyne, her parents, and Lang’s daughter Cassie get sucked into it accidentally. While in there, they cross paths with new dimensions and villains, including Kang The Conquerer.

Harper’s best-known role is on NBC‘s “The Good Place,” which earned him an Emmy nomination for Supporting Comedy Actor. Other recent roles include Peacock‘s “The Resort” with Cristin Milioti, the HBO Max anthology series “Love Life,” and Barry Jenkins‘ “The Underground Railroad” for Prime Video. Harper’s film roles include 2019’s “Midsommar,” the romantic comedy “We Broke Up,” and “Dark Waters.” Beyond “Quantumania,” Harper’s future projects include “Landscape With Invisible Hand,” MTV‘s “Daria” spin-off movie “Jodie,” and the Netflix limited series “A Man In Full.”

So, who does William Jackson Harper play in “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania”? Speculate away, Marvel fans, but an answer likely won’t be unveiled until the film hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
