‘Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania’ Teaser: Hello, Quantum Realm!

One of the biggest announcements at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer was Marvel’s plans for Phase Five. With a brand-new graphic timeline in hand, Kevin Feige announced that Phase 4 would finalize itself with “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and Phase 5 begin with “Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania.”

And with ‘Wakanda Forever’ opening up in theaters soon and ‘Quantumania’ due February 2023, Marvel has decided now is the perfect time to showcase the continuing adventures of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne. And here it is, the first teaser for director Peyton Reed‘s latest subatomic adventure film.

In addition to Rudd and Lilly, other returning castmember include Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer. We’ll also see Kathryn Newton play the teenaged Cassie Lang, Bill Murray play an undisclosed villain that has a history with Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne, and “Loki” actor Jonathan Majors returns as an antagonist variant, Kang The Conqueror. Rumors have swirled about the baddie M.O.D.O.K. in the film, but we don’t really see him in this version of the trailer, so we’ll just have to wait.

There is an expectation, given the already released Avengers title of “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” that Kang will end up becoming the next Thanos-like mega villain leading up to a big crossover event in “Avengers: Secret Wars.” It seems likely that ‘Quantumnia’ is the kick-off film in that story.

As the title suggests, we’re likely going to see further exploration of the Quantum Realm following its presence in “Ant-Man & The Wasp.” Kang should make for a tough adversary as he’s not only able to move through the multiverse but also time-travel, which could mean that the Avengers are even responsible for the technology that Kang uses.

Barring any further delays and hiccups to the Disney slate, “Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania” will arrive in theaters on February 13, 2023. Watch the new trailer below.
