Canadian actor Rohan Campbell made a splash, kind of, with horror fans after his wild turn as Corey Cunningham in 2022’s semi-intriguing misfire, “Halloween Ends.” Flash-forward three years later, and Cunningham is gunning to become the genre’s new leading man, with turns in Osgood Perkins‘ “The Monkey,” “Violence,” and, this December, a remake of one of the genre’s most infamous slasher franchises.

No, Campbell doesn’t star in a new “Halloween” movie (that franchise’s future remains a mystery). Instead, it’s a new take on “Silent Night, Deadly Night,” the Christmas slasher series centered on troubled teens and a killer in a Santa Claus suit. And sometimes in these movies, the teens and the killers are the same people. Want to guess if that’s the case with Campbell here?
Here’s an official synopsis for the horror remake courtesy of Cineverse:
A twisted reimagining of the controversial classic – After witnessing his parents’ brutal murder on Christmas Eve, Billy transforms into a Killer Santa, delivering a yearly spree of calculated, chilling violence. This year, his blood-soaked mission collides with love, as a young woman challenges him to confront his darkness.
Along with Campbell, the film also stars Ruby Modine, Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson.
“Wrong Turn” and “V/H/S/85” director Mike P. Nelson helms “Silent Night, Deadly Night,” and also pens the film’s screenplay.
“Silent Night, Deadly Night” hits theaters on December 12. Watch a trailer for the horror remake below.
