At long last, the new season of “Atlanta” is on its way to FX next year after a three-year hiatus. Could this be the most anticipated season of comedy television of all time? After the show’s second season racked up 14 Emmy nominations, the most by any comedy series ever, it’s safe to say the new one is at the top of almost everyone’s list (including ours!).

Season 2 ended with Earn, Alfred, and Darius flying off to Europe for a rap tour with Clark County, with Earn and Alfred’s partnership seemingly secure. However, Earn, and Van remain at a crossroads, broken up after Van moves into her mother’s house with their daughter. So, how will things shake out this season? That’s anyone’s guess, but Donald Glover promises must-watch TV; a tweet from November 2020 proclaims:” ‘Sopranos’ only ones who can touch us.” That’s a bold claim. Let’s see if Glover & co. are good for it.

The ten-episode season sees Glover return as Earn, with Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz returning as Alfred, Darius, and Van. There are no details yet on guest stars but expect to see some old faces and a couple of new ones.

Initially set to premiere in early 2021, “Atlanta” Season 3 has had its fair share of setbacks, from Glover’s busy feature schedule to the noticeable delays due to COVID-19. Glover has since made up for it, though, as he’s shot the show’s next two seasons back to back, with Season 4 currently in production in Atlanta. With season 3 mostly taking place in Europe, expect the eight-episode fourth season to be a homecoming of sorts.

Tune in with the rest of the world when the new season of “Atlanta” premieres on FX on March 22 with a two-episode premiere. The series streams the next day on Hulu. Check out the trailer below.
