What does the ever-prolific actor Nicolas Cage have in theaters next? While NFL fans wait for his turn as legendary coach and broadcaster John Madden in David O. Russell‘s upcoming biopic, how about Cage as Jesus? That’s what’s in store for audiences when “The Carpenter’s Son” arrive in theaters this Fall.

Based on the apocryphal “Infancy Gospel Of Thomas,” Cage plays The Carpenter in the movie, the father of a family in Roman Egypt whose son rebels against him, harboring mysterious powers. What other divine horrors await the family as it splits apart? Based on the film’s new teaser and its biblical, serpentine imagery, some very unpleasant stuff.
Along with Cave, the film also stars FKA Twigs, Noah Jupe, and Souhelia Yacoub.
Lofty Nathan writes and directs “The Carpenter’s Son.” Producers include Cage, Julie Viez, Alex Hughes, and Riccardo Maddalosso.
