We’ve been extremely excited about Jordan Peele‘s next directorial effort with an untitled film that was set to be released by his studio partner Universal Pictures on October 23, 2026, but the movie has been removed from the slate.
The disappointing news comes to us from various outlets like Variety, as the studio has simply pulled the movie and hasn’t announced a new date, for the moment. This likely has more to do with Peele and Universal trying to figure out his shooting/post-production scheduling than anything else.
It’s worth noting that studio release date shake-ups aren’t really that uncommon, and considering that Jordan Peele is said to haven’t started production on the untitled genre project (we’re waiting patiently for casting announcements), this likely isn’t due to anything seriously sinister or a sign of trouble.
“I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right,” Peele said of the mysterious new feature while appearing on the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend” last year.
After tackling body horror, creepy doubles, and aliens, what is next for Peele is certainly adding to the mystery of the film, and was given the vague description of a “hororr thriller.” One of the more thrilling aspects of his work is that he keeps audiences and the press in the dark until Peele is ready to reveal what his projects are about.
As hinted at above, the next big step will be finding and announcing actors for key roles and then getting cameras rolling.
Peele, his production banner Monkeypaw Productions, and Universal previously worked together on “Get Out,” “Us,” “Nope,” and the upcoming sports horror pic “Him,” which he’s producing and hits theaters on September 19.
