What’s next for Hailee Steinfeld after “Sinners“? Deadline reports the actress will team up with Miles Teller to go after gold medals in “Winter Games.” That sounds like a far cry from fending off vampires.
The upcoming Paramount film follows two Winter Olympics athletes, one a skier and the other a hockey player, who cross paths at the Games and get swept up in a story of romance and redemption. Paul Downs Colaizzo will direct the pic and he co-writes the film with Patt Cunnane. Tim and Trevor White produce via Star Thrower with Teller.
“Winter Games” is Steinfeld’s choice for her “Sinners” follow-up after the box office smash became the highest-grossing original movie of the decade so far, taking in $365 million worldwide. “Sinners” is also Steinfeld’s musical comeback, with “Dangerous” her first single after a two-year break. Needless to say, Steinfeld will be an in-demand name in the coming years due to “Sinners,” although kicking off that period with a sports-centric rom-com may raise some eyebrows. Still, the “Sinners” wave hasn’t crested yet. I’s an early awards season favorite, and will no doubt bring other projects Steinfeld’s ways.
As for Teller, he’s fresh off “The Gorge” opposite Anya Taylor-Joy, and has two more movies this calendar year: “Eternity” over at A24 and “The Ark And The Ardvark.” “Michael,” Lionsgate‘s Michael Jackson, was supposed to also arrive in 2025, but the studio took it off its release calendar earlier this year. Also on the way for Teller? James Gray‘s crime pic “Paper Tiger, which should bow at a major festival sometime next year.
Stay tuned for more details about “Winter Games,” which should arrive in 2027 if it shoots later this year.
