Dinosaurs Rule the Earth. Director Gareth Edwards is promising to make the lab-created dinosaurs of “Jurassic World Rebirth” extremely scary and pushing hard into that angle from the original movie with this latest installment, as a new trailer released by Universal, announcing tickets being on sale, is spotlighting the creature-feature selling point.
That new footage has our rag-tag group of human protagonists played by Scarlett Johansson, Mahersala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and others on a boat being swarmed by a bunch of Spinosaurus, giant carnivorous dinosaurs that are equally deadly on both land and water.
An official synopsis for the pic courtesy of Universal Pictures:
Five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion,” the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
If you’re not familiar with the dino-attack franchise, in Joe Johnston‘s “Jurassic Park III,” the studio decided to make the Spinosaurus the looming threat of the second sequel, as it puts a T Rex down as it terrorizes the group of humans trying to rescue a young boy. So, having a group of giant aquatic predatory dinosaurs attacking in open water is certainly going to be one of the film’s thrilling action sequences.
You can get your tickets for “Jurassic World Rebirth” now and watch that new footage below ahead of the film’s July 2 release date.
