Sadie Sink Comments On Internet Speculation For Key Role In ‘Spider-Man 4’ & ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’: “People Forget That Hair Color Can Change”

The internet has been spending months trying to figure out who “Stranger Things” actress Sadie Sink is playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (one of the few open-ended Marvel mysteries), as her role in Destin Daniel Cretton‘s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” as it’ll reportedly carry over to a return in “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

There have been all sorts of character speculation from Marvel Girl/Jean Grey to Angelica Jones/Firestar to a Multiverse variant of Mayday Parker/Spider-Girl/Spider-Woman (daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, who appears as a baby in the “Spider-Verse” films), all seemingly centered around the Sink’s red hair. The latest guess from the internet is that she is playing Frank Castle’s (Jon Bernthal) redheaded comic book sidekick/protege, Rachel Cole-Alves (Let’s add that to the pile of character theories).

Sink specifically commented on that Jean Grey speculation to Entertainment Weekly (that rumor felt highly unlikely since a Sony-owned film doesn’t feel like an entry point for such a key mutant character with an “X-Men” reboot in the works), “That was happening before I even knew that I would be working on this project…I was like, ‘Wait! What are people talking about?’…A lot of people forget that hair color can change, but, yeah, I understand all of the theories.”

Whatever the case, we likely won’t have to wait too much longer to learn more about Sink’s MCU role, as CinemaCon in April will be a promotional event where Sony may reveal more details about the “Spider-Man” sequel, including the reveal of who exactly Sink is playing in it and revealing what exactly the threat of the film is going to be, including why Mark Ruffalo‘s Banner/Hulk is showing up in it.
