Vanessa Kirby & Lewis Pullman Tapped For Ticking Clock Sci-Fi Thriller ‘The Spacesuit’ From Director Kitty Green

A new science fiction thriller titled “The Spacesuit” has landed two high-profile lead actors with Vanessa Kirby (“The Fantastic Four: First Steps”) and Lewis Pullman (“Top Gun: Maverick,” “The New Avengers/Thunderbolts*”) taking lead roles in the gestating pic, hailing from writer/director Kitty Green.

Kirby and Pullman will be playing astronauts gearing up for an important space mission, but a conflict before lift-off leads to a ticking clock element to the story.

HanWay Films has announced they’ll will be handling the international sales for “The Spacesuit” as the package deal will be heading to the Cannes Film Market next month, which traditionally happens alongside the Cannes Film Festival, as buyers, financiers, and distributors seek new films at the French event to get involved with.

We also got a neat synopsis to share:

Arriving at a moment of renewed global focus on space exploration, “The Spacesuit” offers a timely and provocative new perspective, as an astronaut (Kirby) is forced to make an impossible decision after an incident with her co-pilot (Pullman) leaves an indelible stain on the mission in the days leading up to lift off, setting off a tense race against the clock.

You may remember that Green previously worked with actress Julia Garner (funny enough, co-starred with Kirby in “The Fantastic Four” as a version of Silver Surfer) on the films “The Assistant” and NEON‘s Australian-set rural thriller “The Royal Hotel,” which co-starred Jessica Henwick and Hugo Weaving.

An impressive producing team assembled for the film consists of James Schamus (“Brokeback Mountain,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”), Scott Macaulay (“Raising Victor Vargas,” “Saving Face”), Joe Pirro (“We Grown Now,” “The Wedding Banquet”), Rita Walsh (“The Wolves Always Come at Night”), and Kath Shelper (“Samson & Delilah,” “The Royal Hotel”). Kirby and Juliet Kirby banner, Aluna, also exec produces.

“We are thrilled to be working with Kitty Green again , whose genius is to take on utterly relatable situations women face, give them true cinematic canvases, and imbue them with unbearable tension to provoke bigger conversations and entertain. We cannot wait to be taken on this journey by Kitty with Vanessa Kirby and Lewis Pullman, and the excellent team she has gathered,” Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films, said in an official statement.

UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance will be representing the North American side of the film’s sales.
