‘Wednesday’: Eva Green Reunites With Tim Burton As Aunt Ophelia In Season 3 Of Hit Netflix Series

A third season of “Wednesday” is coming together, and it’s been revealed today that Eva Green (“Casino Royale”) has taken the role of Aunt Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister, in the Netflix series led by Jenna Ortega as the titular character that explores the world of “The Addams Family” that hails from Tim Burton.

Green, of course, previously worked with Burton on his films such as the campy take on “Dark Shadows” (based on the vampire soap opera), “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” and his live-action retelling of “Dumbo” for Disney. Some of Green’s previous television work includes “Penny Dreadful,” “The Luminaries,” and “Liaison.”

“I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of ‘Wednesday’ as Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world, I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family,” Green said in an official statement concerning her official casting announcement.

Series creators, showrunners, and writers Al Gough and Miles Millar added, “Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen, elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia. We’re excited to see how she transforms the role and expands Wednesday’s world.”

This comes after Joanna Lumley (“Absolutely Fabulous,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) was tasked for Season 2 to play Morticia and Ophelia’s mother, Hester Frump, aka Grandmama. We’re still waiting on a full cast lineup for Season 3, but we have to imagine that many of the Season 2 regulars will be returning alongside newbies like Green, so stay tuned for further casting updates.
