‘Behemoth!”: Olivia Wilde Joins Pedro Pascal & David Harbour In Tony Gilroy’s Searchlight Drama About An Cellist & Film Composer

Pedro Pascal and David Harbor will have some company on the new Tony Gilroy feature film “Behemoth!” as actresses Olivia Wilde and Eva Victor have taken on roles in the drama, set to be released by Searchlight Pictures, with filming reportedly starting this week in Los Angeles.

According to a Playlist interview with Tony Gilroy earlier this year,Behemoth!” centers on a cellist and movie music composer who returns to Los Angeles after years away, confronting the life, choices, and relationships he abandoned. Gilroy described the film as “surfing on music,” explaining that “you find out through the flashbacks why he left [L.A.],” hinting at a structure built around creative reckoning and emotional fallout. The project marks a return to more intimate, character-driven storytelling for Gilroy, following his large-scale work on “Andor,” which focuses on a man whose art and personal history collide.

Gilroy, who will write and direct the drama featuring a cellist and film composer, is coming off the massive success of his “Star Wars” rebellion series, “Andor,” that earned Dan Gilroy (his brother and fellow writer on the show) an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. He’s also producing “Behemoth!” alongside Sanne Wohlenberg and his other brother, John Gilroy (the trio reuniting after working on “Andor” together).

Previous feature directorial efforts from Gilroy include the George Clooney-led fixer thriller “Michael Clayton,” “Duplicity,” and he was tasked to helm the Jason Bourne spinoff “The Bourne Legacy” starring Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz after previously penning the trilogy of Matt Damon films in the spy franchise.

Wilde, also a director herself, is said to be playing the former lover of Pascal’s unnamed musician character, and was most recently seen playing a heightened version of herself in the Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg Hollywood-set series “The Studio” as a missing reel from a fictional film she’s making goes missing, leading to comedic hijinks.

Other projects on the horizon for Wilde include Gregg Araki’sI Want Your Sex,” and she will also appear in front of the camera in her next directorial feature, “The Invite.” The latter is a wrapped remake of the Spanish orgy comedy “The People Upstairs” that stars Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz, and Edward Norton with a script penned by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.
