Robert Pattinson Shares Experience Making Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Three’ In Extreme Heat: “I Did Not Have A Single Functioning Brain Cell”

Actor Robert Pattinson is coming off some pretty large projects with “The Batman,” “Tenet,” “Mickey 17,” and will be seen in theaters this week alongside co-star Jennifer Lawrence in the psychological drama “Die My Love.” In a recent interview promoting the new pic, Pattison talked about his experience shooting another rather large studio project, “Dune: Part Three,” helmed by Denis Villeneuve (wrapping up his trilogy).

Speaking with IndieWire, the British actor talked about making the highly anticipated sequel, and the abusive heat (many exterior scenes in the franchise have been shot on location in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates) he experienced on set made it extremely hard to even think. In the new installment, Pattinson is expected to be playing the face-dancer villain Scytale in the sci-fi fantasy movie and is assumed to be part of an assassination plot against Paul Atreides.

“When I was doing [‘Dune: Part Three’], it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn’t question anything. And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating, I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to Denis [Villeneuve]: ‘Whatever you want!’ Pattinson said of what it was like shooting scenes in such brutal heat.

We cannot wait for a teaser trailer, as it may reveal Pattinson’s new villainous character, but we likely won’t get that before CinemaCon, and the exhibitor/press event will cover plenty of footage/first-looks from upcoming 2026 movies ahead of San Diego Comic-Con.

Other things on the horizon for Pattinson include a reunion with Christopher Nolan for his Greek epic “The Odyssey” starring Matt Damon, he is also currently shooting the heist thriller “Here Comes The Flood” opposite Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones, worked with Zendaya (his “Dune 3” co-star) on the A24 filck “The Drama” coming out in April, and he is expected to get the cape/cowl back on for Matt Reeves‘ “The Batman: Part II” when cameras finally roll next year.
