Noah Hawley To Direct Remake Of Argentine Supernatural Horror Flick ‘Terrified’ For Warner Bros.

After tackling the “Alien” franchise with his Earthbound series “Alien: Earth,” Noah Hawley is looking to link up with Warner Bros. for a remake of the Argentine horror film “Terrified” with Warner Bros. backing the project. The main gist of the supernatural story is that the film focuses on a police officer and paranormal researchers/investigators who try to get to the bottom of eerie occurrences that are taking place in a neighborhood in Buenos Aires.

As mentioned by The Hollywood Reporter, Hawley is set to write and direct, also produce via his production banner 26 Keys, the remake with the help of the original film’s writer/director Demián Rugna on the remake’s development.

An official synopsis for Rugna’s 2017 installment, courtesy of Shudder:

On an ordinary suburban street in Buenos Aires, voices are heard from kitchen sinks. Bodies are levitating. Evil is here. It is up to a doctor, her colleague, an ex-cop, to get to the bottom of this neighborhood nightmare.

In the meantime, Hawley is gearing up to shoot the second season of “Alien: Earth” in the United Kingdom. We’ll have to wait and see if the FX/Hulu/Disney+ streaming series will end up reaching that five-season arc that Hawley had been planning and mapping out. However, given the critical and audience reaction to the show, we suspect Disney may want to keep the series going to help promote the IP with films like the sequel to “Alien: Romulus” on the horizon.

With “Alien: Earth” the current priority for Hawley, we won’t exactly know when “Terrified” could begin filming, as it’s only in the development stage, as outlined in this new report. One of the more exciting elements down the line will be who Hawley ends up casting in the horror remake.
