Nicholas Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones have been tapped to lead the new Disney+ series “Mosquito,” which hails from Tony McNamara, the creator of Hulu‘s comedic historical series “The Great.” While the new TV project is going to be released on Disney+ internationally, domestic subscribers will be able to watch the show on Hulu.
The news comes our way from Deadline, but we don’t have much in the way of plotline/character details other than “Mosquito” will be “exploring the next stage in a young couple’s relationship.” Along with tapping into McNamara’s history of absurdist comedic beats.

McNamara has quite the list of film credits as well, showcasing his famous dark comedy and sharp wit, including “The Favourite,” “Poor Things,” “The Roses,” and Disney‘s recent “Cruella” film starring Emma Stone. He was also tasked to help director Olivia Wilde (“Booksmart”) and producer Margot Robbie (“Barbie”) with writing a script for their superhero flick “Avengelyne,” based on the Rob Liefeld character.
Hoult, who worked with McNamara on “The Great” and is gearing up for the “Superman” sequel “Man of Tomorrow” for writer/director James Gunn, potentially taking more of a heroic role as Lex Luthor in the next big DCU event pic. Other recent projects Hoult is attached to star in feature David Leitch‘s next film, “How To Rob A Bank,” and was enlisted for a role in Tom Ford‘s feature adaptation of the Anne Rice thriller novel “Cry To Heaven.”
Meanwhile, projects on the horizon for Edgar-Jones include the Irish revenge drama “Bad Bridgets,” Georgia Oakley‘s “Sense & Sensibility,” the law firm thriller “A Place In Hell,” and, most recently has been shooting “Here Comes The Flood,” which sees her starring opposite Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson.
Sounds like another comedic gem on the way, and we’re going to be very interested to see who they end up selecting for a supporting group of actors to round out the cast of “Mosquito.”
