While Netflix is gearing up for a high-profile Joe Kennedy Sr. series led by actor Michael Fassbender, it’s not the only upcoming show exploring the lives of the Kennedy Family. FX and prolific TV producer/creator Ryan Murphy (recently launched “Beauty“) have teamed on “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette,” as a new trailer for the limited series has dropped.
The show is said to be the first installment in Murphy’s new “Love Story” anthology (think “American Horror Story” or “Feud,” the latter taking from true events and dramatizing them), which is inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s book “Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.”
Paul Anthony Kelly leads the cast of “Love Story” as the late JFK Jr. alongside Grace Gummer (Caroline Kennedy), Naomi Watts (Jackie Kennedy Onassis), Alessandro Nivola (Calvin Klein), Leila George (Kelly Klein), Sydney Lemmon (Lauren Bessette), and Constance Zimmer (Ann Marie Messina).
FX‘s official synopsis for the new limited series:
It was a love story that captured the attention of the nation: John F. Kennedy Jr. was the closest thing to American royalty. The country watched him grow from a boy to a beloved bachelor and media sensation. Bessette was a star in her own right. Fiercely independent and with a singular style, she rose from being a sales assistant to an executive at Calvin Klein and became a trusted confidante of its eponymous founder. John and Carolyn’s connection was immediate, electric, and undeniable. As their love story unfolded on a national stage, the intense fame and media attention that came along with it threatened to rip them apart.
“Love Story” was created by Connor Hines with an executive producer team that features Murphy, Hines, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Monica Levinson, Kim Rosenstock, D.V. DeVincentis, Tanase Popa, and pilot director Max Winkler.
