“My Darling California” has just added another high-profile person to the crime thriller from writer/director Elijah Bynum (“Magazine Dreams”), as Chris Evans has nabbed a part in the project at Anton, after replacing the exiting Josh Brolin.
That’s not it, as the casting update report from Deadline adds that “My Darling California” is heading to the popular Cannes Film Market next month and will be one of the bigger projects landing at the event that coincides with the Cannes Film Festival.
The outlet also mentioned the following logline for the pic:
Set in Los Angeles, 1980, the film will chart how a single crime weaves together the lives of a TV host, his restless wife, a country music idol, two small-time crooks, and an ex-con, all of whom are chasing the promise of a better life.
Evans, who was seen in last year’s “Materialists” and in December’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” will be joining a rather impressive cast lineup that already features talented actors such as Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Chris Pine (“Hell of High Water”), Mikey Madison (“Anora”), Charles Melton (“Warfare,” “Beef”) and Don Cheadle (“No Sudden Move”).
Anton is fully financing “My Darling California” and will be handling international sales during CFM. CAA Media Finance co-represents with Anton for the film’s U.S. and international rights. A producing team features David Hinojosa (“Materialists”), Alex Coco (“Anora”), and Sébastien Reybaud (“Greenland”), with Zach Nutman also exec producing.
This is quite the tantalizing feature project, and we cannot wait to see how Bynum’s “My Darling California” turns out with cameras said to begin rolling toward the end of the summer or into September.
