Jennifer Lawrence Laments Never Getting To Work With Wishlist Director Christopher Nolan: “He’s Never Asked Me To Be In Anything”

You’d like to think that Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence would have her pick of working with filmmakers, but while promoting her latest film “Die My Love” at Vanity Fair for their popular lie detector segment with co-star Robert Pattinson, she lamented not getting an offer from director Christopher Nolan over the years, who Pattinson has worked with multiple times (those credits being the sci-fi actioner “Tenet” and his upcoming Greek myth epic “The Odyssey” led by Matt Damon).

When asked by Pattinson if there was a director she would “never say no to,” Lawrence responded with, “Well, yeah, but he’s never asked me to be in anything…Christopher Nolan…[in a joking tone] must be nice, tell him I said ‘Hi.'”

You can maybe understand Lawrence’s frustration, joking or not, with a link-up not coming together, as all you have to do is look at the massive call sheets for Nolan’s Best Picture Oscar-winning atomic bomb drama “Oppehiemer” and his next release “The Odyssey” could have easily been places where the actress could have etched out a role. The latter features the talents of actresses such as Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Mia Goth, and Samantha Morton.

Jennifer Lawrence also confirmed auditioning for “Twilight,” given her lead role in “The Hunger Games” (both Lionsgate franchises are based on hit YA novel series that came out around the same time), being linked to Pattinson’s vampire romance wasn’t all that surprising. Cheekily adding that the actress doesn’t believe “Twilight” is “cooler” than “Hunger Games.”

Thankfully, there are plenty of project options in the future for a collaboration, as we’re still being kept in the dark about what is next for Nolan, as he’s currently deep in the post-production process for his latest pic and likely won’t reveal those subsequent plans until he’s ready to make that public. That said, she can’t really complain too much as she is gearing up to work with Martin Scorsese for the supernatural drama “What Happens At Night” and sees her reuniting with her “Don’t Look Up” co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
