‘The Sheep Detectives’ Trailer: Hugh Jackman & Emma Thompson Star In Adorable Comedic Farm Whodunnit From ‘Minions’ Director & Craig Mazin

What happens when Craig Mazin, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller get together? Well, you end up with a comedic mystery film like the upcoming “The Sheep Detectives” with CGI talking sheep trying to solve a crime on the farm. Seemingly taking a page from projects like “Poker Face” and “Knives Out” trilogy, but having a flock of cute farm animals doing the deducting.

We’ve been sent over the film’s trailer to share, which gives us a better idea of what to expect from the PG family-friendly crime pic that is based on Leonie Swann‘s “Three Bags Full” adapted in a script penned by Mazin (“The Last of Us”) and helmed by Kyle Balda, who has extensive experience making adorable films for kids after directing billion-dollar earning animated projects such as Illumination‘s mega-popular “Minons,” “Despicable Me 3,” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

The “Hugh-dunnit” hailing from Amazon MGM Studios features a solid all-star cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Tosin Cole, Hong Chau, Emma Thompson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, and Rhys Darby.

An official logline for the cheeky flick courtesy of Amazon:

In this witty, new breed of mystery, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can’t possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.

Lindsay Doran, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner are set as the film’s main producers, with Tyson Hesse, Lord, Miller, Sarah-Jane Wright, Amelia Granger, Aditya Sood, and Tim Wellspring among the executive producer team.
