There have been all sorts of behind-the-scenes stories about director Bryan Singer’s bad behavior on and off-set, as “X-Men 2” actor Alan Cumming mentioned in his book “Baggage: Tales From a Fully Packed Life,” that his co-star Halle Berry told the director he could “kiss my black ass” after he lashed out at the cast for confronting him for his unprofessional antics during the filming of the sequel.
While promoting her latest pic, “Crime 101,” essentially Berry confirmed Cumming’s confrontation story when asked directly by Entertainment Weekly and gave her side of things, not to mention being proud of calling out Singer by channeling the combined frustrations of the cast and crew.

“A really famous one, when I got to tell Bryan Singer just where to go and how to get there on the set of X-Men one day…Everybody was mad, but they all said to me, ‘Halle, you go tell ’em,’ because they knew I would,” Berry recalls. “And it’s one of the greatest days on a set, telling someone who was wronging the entire crew, the entire cast, exactly where to go. And then I got on a plane and flew home with my X-Men suit on…”I’m sorry, that guy deserved it,” Berry said of the dust-up with Singer (Reps for the director told THR that those events didn’t happen).
The disgraced filmmaker would end up being accused of sexual assault by multiple accusers, including some who were underage boys at the time, leading to studios ending their working relationship. His last big feature was the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but he was ultimately replaced by Dexter Fletcher.
Whatever happened between Berry and Singer, the two would eventually work together again as she briefly appeared in future scenes in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” playing a version of Storm in an alternative future who was now in a romantic relationship with Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine (the pairing being a direct nod to the comics and animated series).
With that, we should note that Cumming (who has been having a bit of a career revival as the host of reality game show “Traitors“) is officially returning to the Nightcrawler role for “Avengers: Doomsday” this December (alongside other Singerverse actors such as Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn), while Berry is said not to be returning for the Multiverse event. Although she and her “Crime 101” co-star Chris Hemsworth (who plays Thor in the MCU) have talked up the idea of them combining forces.
