We’re three feature installments separated from Sam Raimi‘s “Army of Darkness” as the latest “Evil Dead” film, “Evil Dead Burn,” is heading to theaters this summer. New Line Cinema/Warner Bros. (U.S.) and Sony Pictures (Internationally) have released an announcement teaser trailer revealing that the horror pic is coming out on July 10.
Sébastien Vaniček (“Infested”) directs this new chapter and co-writes the script alongside Florent Bernard, with a cast that includes Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Errol Shand, Maude Davey, George Pullar, and Greta van den Brink.
An official logline for the new installment produced by Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures via Warner Bros.
“Evil Dead Burn” unleashes the franchise’s most savage and terrifying ride to date, blazing onto big screens with an all-new chapter of carnage and demonic mayhem. After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life… live on even in death.
The previous two movies were helmed by filmmakers Fede Álvarez (“Alien: Romulus”) and Lee Cronin (“Lee Cronin’s The Mummy”), so there is some expectation that Vaniček could end up also getting more studio work if the project is a hit with audiences.
