The “Wednesday” casting carousel keeps getting better, and now it’s bringing a little Burton déjà vu with it: Winona Ryder has joined Netflix’s “Wednesday,” reuniting with Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega after the trio teamed on 2024’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”
Deadline reports that Ryder is set to guest star in Season 3 of Netflix’s hit show, the Al Gough and Miles Millar series, with the move also marking another link to Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” whose script Gough and Millar previously worked on.
“I am so happy that Winona has joined us; she fits right into this world,” Burton said in a statement linked to the casting announcement. “And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”
Ryder is set to join an established cast that also features Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, and Fred Armisen as the beloved/wacky Uncle Fester.
Of course, this new streaming project role comes after Ryder had wrapped up her previous Netflix series, “Stranger Things.” This isn’t the only high-profile reunion on that latest batch of episodes, as Eva Green, who had a major role in Burton’s “Dark Shadows,” will also be appearing in the new season as Aunt Ophelia, Morticia’s sister.
According to a new video announcement, Ryder will be playing the character Tabitha. Also joining the cast are Chris Sarandon (“Dog Day Afternoon,” “The Princess Bride”), Noah Taylor (“Peaky Blinders,” “Game Of Thrones”), Oscar Morgan (“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “Gotham Knights”), and Kennedy Moyer (“Task,” “Roofman”), with more additions rounding out the ensemble as production on Season 3 of Netflix’s “Wednesday”—still the streamer’s most-watched English-language series—gets underway near Dublin, Ireland.
