While “Stranger Things” and “The Whale” actress Sadie Sink recently took a mysterious role in Daniel Deston Cretton’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” as the sequel had been shooting in the United Kingdom (Sink spotted on set in set photos in recent weeks), there is now a report claiming that she’ll be returning sooner to the MCU than we had expected with a part in The Russo Brothers’ next big event pic, “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
This surpising casting update hails from Deadline; however, they’re unaware of what exactly her MCU role is in “Brand New Day,” but do mention that Sink is going to be one of the first actors named to the next “Avengers” sequel’s (assumed to be “Secret Wars” as “Avengers: Doomsday” has already wrapped, is coming out in May, and isn’t directly named) call sheet as filming is said to begin “later in 2026.”

Sink’s involvement in the “Avengers” movies (nothing says she couldn’t appear in both of these installments) would suggest her role is bigger and more prominent than we had initially imagined. However, the problem is that the online rumors about her character (who may or may not possess superpowers) have been inconsistent, primarily based on her signature red hair. Those rumored possibilities range from Jean Grey (aka Marvel Girl of the “X-Men”), Spidey’s pal Angel Jones (aka Firestar), and another theory circulating was a version of Mayday Parker (the daughter of Peter Parker and a possible variant from the Multiverse). She could also be portraying someone else entirely; we don’t know for sure, at the moment.
We’re sure that her MCU character will be revealed in due time by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, as the promotion for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will eventually have to name who she is playing (the assumption being between now and CinemaCon in April).
“Avengers: Secret Wars” is set for release on December 17, 2027, and those “Doomsday” events will likely reveal who else is returning for the sixth installment.
