AMC Theatres and Mansa have teamed up for a psychological thriller, “Newborn,” coming out this spring that boasts a cast featuring David Oyelowo, Olivia Washington, Barry Pepper, and Jimmie Fails.
This genre-bending new movie marks a reunion of sorts as Oyelowo and Pepper had previously worked together on the Western miniseries, “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” which was part of a string of TV projects developed by Taylor Sheridan.

An official synopsis for the new thriller provided by Mansa:
“Newborn” follows Chris Newborn (Oyelowo), who, after serving seven years in solitary confinement, seeks to rebuild his life and reconnect with his family, only to find that freedom has become a terrifying psychological battleground. An emotionally charged, edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller that will stay with audiences long-after the end credits roll.
Oyelowo is lining up high-profile projects like a new iteration of “Othello” with former James Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli attached, Rachel Brosnahan and Cynthia Erivo set to co-star. Also, is looking to link up with his “Selma” director, Ava DuVernay, for her British Museum heist flick, “Heist of Benin,” at StudioCanal.
The film’s writer/director, Nate Parker, leads a producing team that also consists of Oyelowo, Aaron L. Gilbert, and Christina Lee Storm. Parker, you might remember, was on-the-rise until a sexual assault allegation from his college days derailed his Hollywood career, and could explain why the movie is going to be screened in limited locations.
Audiences will be able to watch “Newborn” exclusively at AMC Theatres on April 10, and you can view that aforementioned new teaser trailer below.
