British actress Florence Pugh, who is part of Marvel’s “Avengers: Doomsday” this December and likely “Avengers: Secret Wars” (we’re still waiting on a casting announcement from Disney), is lining up a fantasy film with “Lion” director Garth Davis attached. As they’ll be adapting the acclaimed Matt Haig novel “The Midnight Library.”

The feature project, as revealed by Deadline, hailing from StudioCanal and Blueprint Pictures, is heading to the Cannes Film Market, with the latter studio overseeing the film’s sales at the French event.

But things aren’t always what she imagined they’d be, and soon her choices place the library and herself in extreme danger. A producing team on the movie consists of Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin of Blueprint, Anita Overland, and Pugh. Haig, Blueprint’s Ben Knight and Diarmuid McKeown executive-produce alongside StudioCanal’s Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern, and Dan MacRae

”I couldn’t be more excited to reunite with Florence Pugh on ‘The Midnight Library.’ Her warmth and talent are magical, and together, I know we’ll do something special working with Matt’s iconic novel. This is a story that moves us, both a celebration of life in all its possibility and complexity. With Graham Broadbent, Blueprint Pictures, and Studiocanal behind us, I can’t wait to illuminate this adventure, Davis said in an official statement on the project’s announcement.

Pugh’s “Doomsday” is also going head-to-head with Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three” in December, and given the actress’ high-profile and popularity of the source material, we assume that “The Midnight Train” is going to have a rather large audience awaiting the adaptation.

“The Midnight Library” is expected to enter pre-production this fall with a production start sometime in early 2027. StudioCanal is already set to release the fantasy pic theatrically in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia, and New Zealand.
