‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’: Alien Invasion TV Series Adapation From Chris Yost & Seth MacFarlane Heading To Peacock

After tackling live-action shows such as “The Orville” and “Ted,” Seth MacFarlane (via Fuzzy Door Productions) is teaming up with writer Chris Yost for a TV series adaptation of the sci-fi adventure novel “Dungeon Crawler Carl” as a new streaming project being developed for Peacock.

The project update hails from a report by Variety, as Yost will write and executive produce the show, which is based on a string of sci-fi adventure novels featuring a global alien invasion written by Matt Dinniman, who is set to executive produce the streaming series.

An official logline mentioned in the new announcement:

“An alien invasion has wiped out most of humanity, and any survivors are forced to fight for their lives on a sadistic intergalactic game show. Sounds bad, right? Now try doing it with bare feet and a stuck-up, self-centered, tiara-wearing talking cat as your partner. Welcome to Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, where the apocalypse will be televised … and Coast Guard vet Carl finds himself stuck with his ex-girlfriend’s award-winning show cat, Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk, as they try to survive the end of the world, fighting monsters, aliens, an insane A.I. and even other survivors…all for the sake of good TV. Survival is optional. Entertainment is not.

Yost’s previous writing credits include multiple “Star Wars” shows such as “Star Wars: Rebels,” “The Mandalorian,” and “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” Other past projects include “Thor: The Dark World,” Thor: Ragnarok,” “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and Netflix’s live-action “Cowboy Bebop” series.

MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door’s Erica Huggins are also execs, as Rachel Hargreaves-Heald will oversee the show’s production for the banner. Of course, MacFarlane has found incredible success in the animation space with projects such as “Family Guy,” “American Dad!,” and “The Cleveland Show.”

Fuzzy Door is also behind the recent Celeste Hughey-created Peacock series “The ‘Burbs,” a live-action series iteration of the Joe Dante film that starred Tom Hanks as a noisy neighbor who discovers that the new family that has moved in is a bunch of sociopathic killers. “Dungeon Crawler Carl” is yet another step in Fuzzy Door’s working relationship with the streamer.
