Actor Lewis Pullman is going to return to the role of Bob, aka The Sentry, in “Avengers: Doomsday,” and he seems genuinely surprised that he was called up to reprise his character after being introduced as what seemed like the antagonist in Jake Schreier‘s “Thunderbolts” (later retitled “The New Avengers“). Bob/Sentry, being a character that is very much dealing with his personal trauma and depression (transforming into the deadly entity known as The Void), is a theme throughout all the characters in the MCU film, a topic that doesn’t get explored too often in the popcorn superhero genre and reiterating that many of the characters inhabiting the world of Marvel are complex (hero or villain), while also capable of being redeemable.
The co-star of “The Testament of Ann Lee,” and who recently wrapped up production on Amazon MGM Studios‘ “Spaceballs 2” (playing Lone Starr and Vespa’s son, Starburst), spoke with the ladies of “The View,” as Pullman revealed his shock and joy to be able to play Bob once more for Marvel Studios and The Russo Brothers in the secretative “Avengers” sequel, given his personal connection with the character.

“I couldn’t believe I was allowed to be in that movie. It was so fun. I’m so lucky to play this character because he means so much to me…There’s so much about his ethos that is very personal to me,” Pullman said of his return to the MCU for “Avengers: Doomsday.”
What we do know from a post-credit scene is that The New Avengers (alongside Bob) operating out of Stark Tower are alerted to a ship in space, revealed to belong to The Fantastic Four. The assumption here is that they’ll end up intercepting that ship and potentially leading to a fight sequence. There are also clues hinted ot by Nightcrawler’s Alan Cumming about some brawl between returning “X-Men” cast members and Pedro Pascal‘s Mr. Fantastic, which could see Marvel’s First Family potentially on Doctor Doom’s side.
That all said, there is an expectation that a teaser or teasers for “Avengers: Doomsday” could be attached to the upcoming release of “Avatar: Fire & Ash,” and may spotlight some new plot/character details, as we’ve been mostly in the dark other than the huge roster of actors showing up in it.
You can watch that full exchange with Pullman on “The View” below.
