Elijah Wood Campaigns To Co-Star With Lookalike Daniel Radcliffe In Hypothetical Two-Hander Movie: “Why Don’t We Just Work Together?”

Daniel Radcliffe is out promoting his solo Broadway play “Every Brilliant Thing” and his new NBC series “The Fall & Rise of Reggie Dinkins.” In the process, he was able to get a lovely message from fellow actor Elijah Wood (the two actors are often confused for each other by the public) about the two linking up for a movie, possibly a “buddy cop” thing.

During an interview with Josh Horowitz on his popular industry podcast “Happy Sad Confused,” Radcliffe was presented with a special pre-recorded message from “Lord of the Rings” actor Elijah Wood (from a previous podcast episode) about the two actors joining forces for a hypothetical film project.

“Listen, as someone, we get mistaken for one another a lot. My thought is just this: ‘Why don’t we just work together?’ [laughs] I would love that, so, I don’t know what the idea is, I don’t know if it’s a buddy cop movie, if we just lean in,” Wood said of the idea of the two famous fantasy actors getting together in a work capacity.

Radcliffe’s heartwarming response to that call from Wood, “It’s so nice being mistaken for someone so genuinely lovely and talented, it’s very nice. He’s just the best, I guess I have to shave [the beard] and just have a mustache…so we’re still twins. I’m totally up for…a buddy cop, or is it something that we’re playing ourselves, and some sort of fight to the death…like a ‘Highlander’ situation. I don’t know what it is, but if anyone out there has pitches, start writing that script.”

While not officially confirmed, Wood is expected to be gearing up to return to the role of Frodo Baggins in the Andy Serkis-directed spinoff film “The Hunt for Gollum,” so maybe he’s able to convince Serkis and New Line Cinema/Warner Bros. (studio that discovered Radcliffe to led the “Harry Potter” films) to consider giving Radcliffe a part in the new “Lord of the Rings” adventure.

But that sounds less like what Wood was talking about, as it seems to be asking for the pair to make a two-hander, rather than simply appearing in the same project, sharing a bulk of the screetime. We’ve seen actors make these public campaigns in the past; some have materialized, like Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista‘s recent action flick “The Wrecking Crew” came together similarly. Stranger things have happened in Hollywood.
